The idea of establishing an Association of Political Science Students (APSS) was born in 2001 in Kathmandu, when some students studying Political Science in Tribhuvan University constituent and affiliated colleges, felt need of such an organization through which youths and students related issues can be explored and they can be empowered for and involved in national level policy designing and implementation. The political situation of Nepal in 2001 was not going through a good condition day by day and there was still lack of democratic culture among political parties and state decision making processes. Need of special contribution of aware youths and students towards building democracy with justice and confronting social injustice was increasing day by day.
Therefore, APSS was established in Kathmandu in October 2001. The APSS was meant as an umbrella uniting local and national political science community and students by granting them access to a constant information flow of current matters in the field of political sciences and national and international political affairs. Furthermore, APSS should provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and for help on research/studies. Since then we are working for peace, Democracy and Human Rights. Now we have linked nationwide having more than 2100 direct members and 26 college level unit committees. |
