Interaction on Local Service Delivery and Role of Youth:

The current situation of local service delivery has demanded an urgent discussion with political leaders and policy makers with necessary policy expert back-up. The absence of accountable local decision process and fulfilment of growing expectations of local people need to be systematically interacted among top-level political leaders, experts and senior bureaucrats to meet the current policy gaps. For this the Association of Political Science Students (APSS) decided to sensitize and make more aware on this situation and look for an appropriate and common interest of all stakeholders for a strengthened and accountable mechanism and ensuring a guaranteed service delivery at local level. Then the APSS organised an interaction mainly with Honourable Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, former Prime Minister & Chairman of Unified CPN (Maoist), Mr. Arjun Narsingh KC, former education minister & central member of Nepali Congress, Mr. Bharat Mohan Adhikari, former Deputy Prime Minister, former finance minister & leader of CPN (UML), Dr. Hikmat Bista, local governance expert & Chairman of LGAF, Mr. Shankar Prasad Pande, Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Sushil Ghimire, Secretary at the Ministry of Local Development, Mr. Somlal Subedi, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister & Council of Ministries, youth representatives and media.

Youth Students Participation in Constitution Writing Process Strategic/Preparatory Symposium for II Phase:

The Association of Political Science Students (APSS) organized a youth symposium on the Role of Youths/Students in Constitution-making Process. The symposium was held from 6th to 8th September in Dhulikhel. The objective of the symposium was to build capacity of the youth students to participate in the constitution-making process. Similarly, the symposium was aimed at developing an action plan for organizing events in Nepal’s different campuses on the role of youths in the constitution-making process. A total of 23 youths/students from Nepal’s 18 Campuses located in four development regions of Nepal participated in the event. The symposium was supported by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany through GTZ - Federalism Support Programme.
