National Talk Program on Peace Process and Constitution Building in Nepal: Current Challenges & Opportunities (Hotel Shangri-La, 19 Jan, 2011)
 

The Association of Political Science Students (APSS) organised a National Talk Program with senior members of major political parties, senior members of civil society, noted political analysts, media and youth and student leaders, on 19th January 2011 at Hotel Shangri-La, Kathmandu.

Nepal’s current peace process and constitution building process are facing critical political set-backs and deadlock frequently creating obstacles and more challenges to ensuring sustained political stability with a new Constitution. As well as Nepal is enjoying an important time of its history in the sense of various achievements in recent years.

The main objectives of the Talk Program were to openly discuss on the necessary political environment to concluding the peace process and main challenges and obstacles for this, chief roles of all political parties and other concerning stakeholders, Maoist combatants’ integration & its modality, and conditions for forming government with national consensus. As well as the talk programme will assess the progress the ongoing peace process and pledges the immediate future actions from the civil society and the political parties. Mr. Sudheer Sharma, political analyst & Editor of Kantipur National Daily had presented working paper and Mr. Barsaman Pun Ananta of Unified CPN (Maoist), Dr. Ramsharan Mahat of Nepali Congress, Mr. Ishwor Pokharel of CPN (UML) and constitutional expert Dr. Bhimarjun Acharya had commented on the paper and make remarking speech on the topic.
