  • YOUTH-STUDENTS PARTICIPATION IN THE CONSTITUTION WRITING PROCESS OF NEPAL

  • This report does not make any political standpoints in the ongoing divided political comments because youths and students here are also one of a major part of contemporary Nepali politics, but the readers can hope it has been able to address key issues that are needed to be heavily debated and reviewed before their constitutional incorporation. The youths and students who honestly attended in and got benefitted from various workshops with CA members and experts have been able to give common picture of New Nepal. But still there lacks common consensus among various political parties’ youth on major issues of federalism and state-restructure. For forging consensus on those issues this report can be a good resource for interested stakeholders and leading constitution drafters. Readers’ suggestions and feedbacks are always welcomed to the APSS. Download
  • CONSTITUTION DRAFTING PROCESS: PROGRESS AND CHALLENGES REPORT OF INTERACTION PROGRAM, 30TH JULY 2009, KATHMANDU

  • Nepal has been declared a republic state and a new and generally-desired constitution is yet to be drafted by the people’s representatives, Constituent Assembly. The Constitution drafting process is the key issue and function of the Assembly. However, there seems a delay in the drafting process, and obstructions in different names are coming at front, but the time is running out. In this scenario, the Association of Political Science Students (APSS) organized a half day interaction program on the progress and challenges in drafting the constitution of the Republic of Nepal on July 29th July 2009 in the Meeting Hall of Consortium of Constitutional Experts (CONCOE Nepal), Putalisadak, Kathmandu. • DEPLOYING TERAI YOUTHS TO PROMOTE NON-VIOLENT POLITICAL EXPRESSION

  • This report covers the outcomes and evaluation of the Deploying Terai Youths to Promote Non-Violent Political Expressions Project, a six-month partnership between the Association of Political Science Students and USAID/OTI Nepal. The aim of that partnership has been to substantially develop the capacity of Terai youths to provide nonviolence awareness building workshops at VDC level focusing grass roots political leaders, students and youths. This project is focused to 840 youth-students who were at the forefront of recent Terai violent protests which severely destroyed public development constructions and likely to crash down the ongoing peace process towards sustainable peace and democracy. It was aimed at drawing attention to nonviolence discourses in Nepal’s political party and civil society through series of radio shows. Download
